2026 Land and Waters Grant is Now Open for Applications!

Land & Waters Preservation Trust Endowment will be awarding up to $16,000 in grants to worthy projects in May 2026.  Land & Waters, administered by the Initiative Foundation, is a joint endowment of Whitefish Area Property Owners Association (WAPOA) and the Pine River Watershed Committee (PRWC).


The Grant Application submission period is open February 20, 2026 through April 1, 2026.  Additional information may be requested with a deadline of April 20, 2026.  Grants will be made on May 1, 2026; and projects should be completed in 2026.   


Land & Waters will accept and consider funding proposals that fit within the following priorities:

  • Implement projects that enhance and protect surface and aquifer water quality in the

  • Pine River watershed.

  • Support sustainable riparian land management practices.

  • Protect habitat for native plants and animals.


Grants will be made to 501c3 non-profits such as the Whitefish Area Property Owners

Association (WAPOA), other lake associations in the watershed, the Pine River Watershed

Committee (PRWC), or local units of government that serve the Pine River Watershed.


Considering the annual budget amount, grant applications requesting up to $5,000 are encouraged, with larger project amounts considered.


Grants will be made only for proposals that fit one or more of the Funding Priorities listed

above.
